Hi chaps,

my terrano is running 17inch wheels and has fixed hubs. For the price of a couple of replacement tyres I have found some sets of wheels on ebay with tyres but they are off an earlier model. Are there certain wheels I need to use with the fixed hubs or can I use any.? (I have it somewhere in the back of my mind that I can't)

Cheers..

They’ll all probably fit as I temporarily fitted a 15” on mine to move it a few feet. The only problem would be fitting the 17” on to autolocking hubs as the 17s don’t have the centre machined out.
Personally I’d rather have the 17s and buy a pair of tyres. Also you may not know the exact history of the other rims and tyres.

Jim is correct :thumb2
I changed from the standard 17" to 15" without any problems. The rear drums are also the larger size, and 15" wheels fit easily.
I still have the fixed hubs but I am thinking about fitting manual hubs. Obviously if I do I will not be able to fit the 17" wheels on the front.:thumbs

Good thinking Jim, I think that may be the way to go :thumbs

Thanks for info :thumb2. I was also looking at the tyre and wheel packages that some places do. Lots to think about

if want to fit manual hubs, i'd go 16s though 15s may give more choice.

a standard mk4 with 17s can take any wheel but older trucks, atleast
those with out fixed hubs would not be able to take 17s.

The more offroading/green laning you do the less you want 17s
Smaller rim size will give you higher aspect ratio for the same size diameter and therefore a better ability for the tyre to deform over rocks and stuff.
