tyre choice

I am hoping to buy a set of 4 mud tyres & 16" wheels sometime next week and i have about £ 450 to spend, any suggestions please, ie retreads or not cos the Recip trials look fairly good :?: :?: .I have some a/t good year wranglers on and they are getting a bit worn which i will use for everyday driving. we took both trucks out at the weekend and the maverick had standard all terain tyres on , and it went everywhere our tarrano wet with mud tyres on ... well everwhre except the big hole in the ground we dug digging the terrano out when it sank deep.... in fact the maverick with all terrain tyres on prob did better as i had to reverse half a mile out of the tight fire break in the forrest,
in all we travelled 20 miles off road mostly over rough terrain and deep wet/boggy clay but the at did just as well...

just make sure you have a susspension lift kit and the biggest wheels you can fit on... ground clearance ruined our day out and eqipment leaving us needing to be dragged out by the mig monster landrovers who where playing on the nearby mountain... it cost loads of money on winches/bumpers/ clutch and towing kit snapped . we prob wrecked a thousand pounds worth of kit on that day out without all the p taking from the landrover chaps in the pub after. and you dont want that

quite fancy look and performance of kumho kl71s when my at2s need replacing, unless can afford to have set for play and road. trouble is having to swap them around or not having right ones on for terrain.

that said not got stuck yet with my grabbers, perhaps i havent tried hard enough :roll:

the kumho mud venture tyres cost £220 for 4 unfitted.(the ones on my t2)
technic amazon £176 for 4 unfitted.(on my other t2 now sold)
they are 235/75/15 so it may be a bit more for 16".
he stocks insa turbo,kumho,technics,bf goodrich and thats just what i can remember.

Where are you thinking of getting your lift springs from & shocks?

hi sorry dont get on much at the mo the shocks are on already ironman 2" lifted shocks, previous owner removed the springs as his wife couldnt get in properly so dadba has donated some springs from his y61 not tried them yet hopefully i will get chance soon!
