Hi guys I've just seen on another thread a thing about twin batteries if you want to run a winch.
I'm in the process of gashing an elec winch to the front and would like to know how to go about a twin battery install.
Any help please as I'm rubbish with the sparky bits on cars!
Cheers

Hello Makeitfit,
Can you please do a search of the forums on this one as it was covered only a few weeks ago, If i had more time i would search it for you.

Cheers, Mav.

Totally different prospect installing a second battery for winch work, electrically speaking anyway. The puny caravan split charge systems wouldn't put up with the abuse a winch will give them, you really need something like THIS from X-eng - I won't go into the details of why as it is all in that link except to say you'll either melt/burn out a caravan style split charge relay or reduce your winching capacity.

It's a good idea to include a cut in the circuit too, to completely isolate the winch from the battery in case of the contactors (relays) sticking in the closed position, also good to stop people messing with it when you don't want then to especially as a lot of thee remote control style ones are all on the same RF frequency.

Makeitfit - whats this winch like then and then we can give you best advice for it, what line pull is it (in lb) and does it have any current feed markings (in amps, or possibly kw/w) - any pics?

Hi again and thanks guys I'll be off down taht forum thread hunt thing shortly.
I'll get back to you Hummingbird about winch amps and line pull.
Hopefully there will be some info on the thing itself.
As you've probably guessed I'm new to all this off roading lark and threads!
Cheers Pete
