Always when the funds are low......

So when I'm stationary and in gear with the clutch depressed I get a loud squealing/weiring noise from the gearbox. This happens in any gear, when I bring the clutch up to drive off the noise quiets down (possibly disappears can't hear over engine and tyre noise :lol). As soon as I stop again the noise reappears.

If I put the gearbox into neutral, clutch up or down there is no noise, which seems to rule out release bearing. The noise will come back as soon as you try and select any gear, then disappears as the clutch is brought up to drive off

I know for a fact I have a small gearbox leak, and the gearbox probably needs the level topped up, but would this noise just be from low fluid levels or does anyone have any ideas what may be causing this problem....

My wallet isn't looking to great at the moment so hopefully it's nothing to expensive :doh

u sure its the gearbox. im not 100 percent sure but i think until the clutch is up the gearbox aint doing nothing

sounds to me like you got no oil in your box, have look pretty damn quick, but could also be dry spigot bearing, seems this noise only happens when the center plate is stationary but engine turning, but then you say it happens in neutral so not absolutely sure, Rick

Where do you fill this up?

half inch socket drive plug on the side of the box, remove it and feed a bit of wire in to see if you have any oil, proper level is to the bottom of the plug hole, Rick

Will go get some oil at the weekend and top (...fill ) the gearbox up... Fingers crossed its nothing else
