I have some of both styles but they are the ones I reach for most often, though mine are the clark ones from machine mart. They are so quick to set to height and drop back down it just helps speed jobs up.

yep i use them ones too, deffo make things easier and faster

The ones you're looking at buying are what I use on a regular basis for cars and my T2. They're a lot safer than the old pin ones you describe which have a smaller footprint and are consequently less stable if the ground isn't perfectly flat.

Any way i have opted for these.Ok maybe overkill. But i want to be sure the vehicle over me,aint going to kill Me.

I have a set of the ones you are looking at that I bought in Spain, and as Kishada said, they have a bigger footprint, plus they are quicker and easier to use - I have used them several times (in conjunction with a trolley jack plus my spare wheel under the car - I NEVER rely on just one method of lifting a T2!)

I have 2 sets of the pin type (got one set free) and they work for me, I also keep the trolley jack under the vehicle, locked off just touching the underside, so all the weight is on the stands.

I dont trust axle stands can sink into ground and if vehicle moves can tip over.I use big pieces of wood, or spare wheels are good with wood on top.I once had vehicle tip of stands the weight of a terrano crushed them almost flat

Yeah i understand your concerns. But my stands i will be using will be stood on 2 inch level concrete. Also force of habit my three ton trolly jack will used in a supporting role(No Pun):thumbs

I have a set of both those and the older pin type... I love the ratchet ones, so much easier to use, and so easy to get out from under the car when you are finished.
