Ryan, that is terrible...

You can not just connect the trailer indicators up in parallel to the car indicators. At best it will make the car indicators flash too fast, but could actually burn out your flasher circuit. Not only that, but you must have some form of warning device that the trailer indicators are working, be that a buzzer or flashing light, but the one for the car indicators is not sufficient. You need an indicator controller.

Thats it, their cheap enough, and there are so many versions, I do not understand why it did not come with one included in the wiring kit...

i dunno, tbh, i'm not a big fan of the wiring, the socket is cheap and plasticy and the wires are really thin....i'm going to use my own thicker cable i think, also get good sturdy sockets that wont brake...the oricinal socket wont even shut properly, very ill fitting and aint water proof!

The last 4 cars that I've had the tow bar has been spliced directly into the car's loom. The buzzer/warning lamp kits all ran off the loom too and did not have a separate feed of any kind to operate the indicators. The Terrano is wired like that now and no problems. This is for the Black 12N socket wiring.

I have to say a modern vehicle with funny bulb sensing and electronics may well be different.

yeah, it's how my vehicles are wires too

the newer cars with multiplex and CAN-bus systems eg, out meriva usually have a bypass module for the bulb warnings etc

Wish other manufacturers would pick up on this.

Yes, the Volvo 240 had this, and the little Toyota Corrola I had also had it, made for such a neat installation. Change the relay, wire up to the existing plug, and off you go.

The Indicator Relay I got for the T2, had a small beeper, and an output so you can add your own indicator. I put a bit of tape over the beeper built in and mounted it behind the read trim panel, and ran a light to the front of the car. On my T2, the cubby hole in front of the gear levers has 3 little indents on each side of it, and they are perfect for the old style push-in warning light to mount in, so I put a green one in there.

Some of the old maestros I think and old metros has a light below the indicator arrow, that allerted you too the trailer indicators functionality
