My towball is on the top holes of a Witter bar not lower hole as I see in some folks photee's I see on here. Where should it be? Also I have fitted a new ball today, but the new bolts were not long enough to get the nuts fully on, so I used the old ones for now. Should I get new longer bolts or will the old ones be OK? I used the old bolts, but the new nuts and star washers. Also the ball sticker said that the torque for the bolts were 240nm, that's about 177lb ft FFS! My torque wrench only goes up to 150lb ft, so did that, that was still mighty tight.

There's no right or wrong set of holes to use bud, depends on the height of the drawbar you're towing from - the Trol drawbar has two holes and I've just moved my tow jaw onto the top set as I noticed the stock trailer was sitting a little nose down when I last towed.

Old bolts should be fine as long as they're not knackered. My torque wrench doesn't go up that far either but I put a wee bit of pipe on the end of the 3/4 ratchet and get it as tight as I can.

bolts should poke throuh
