Has anyone got any pictures of how this is done?

I want to get this sorted when the weather cheers up a little bit after attempting to do it the first time round and realising that the bolts were already at the top of their travel :(

Cheers

you need to undo the bolts completely then pull a big circlip on the trunion, and if you are lucky be able to pull it off the torsion bar my near side one will not budge even with heat, rust in the splines is difficult to overcome, however if it does come of on both sides then just move it say 2 splines and take it as high as you feel you need but the higher you go the more angle the drive have to cope with, makeitfit has more info on this than me ,Rick

Thanks for the reply sounds quite simple as long as they aren't seized up, are they best removed while car is on axle stands or on the floor?

Any pics makeitfit?

Ok this is my next job tomorrow night as I've been so successful tonight :D

So what am I undoing here?

I've sprayed some 3 in 1 on them and leaving them overnight to soak

Any info on this as I've just got back from work and want to get under the car and get to this

It's the back part of the bar, can't find pic right now.

do not jack it under the wishbones :eek: it has to be under the chassis so the wishbones drop as far as poss, Rick

Only reason I had it under the wishbones was because I was doing other jobs under there last night and just wanted the most clearance lol

Right I went out tonight feeling excited and confident following last nights successful set of jobs that I've ticked off my list

I found this guide looking around the web but and was going to use it as reference when I'd wound the bars all the way up;
http://www.nissan4wheelers.com/displayForumTopic/content/286003431025124169

I loosened off the locking nut and wound them as far as they would go, I measured the amount of thread exposed when the locking nut was in position and both sides measured just short of an inch

I dropped the car back to the ground and the height hadn't changed a fat lot

The back was still reading 34" from floor to arch
and the front had gone up from 31" to just under 32"

All tyres have the same amount of PSI in them and there is nothing in the car that would of made a difference to weight distribution

I attempted to get the 3 bolts off to start re-indexing the torsion bar at the front however when I got all the nuts off it would budge and pull off no matter how hard i tried :(

What am I doing wrong? I've put it all back together and given up tonight, going to try again when I've got more of an ida what I'm messing with etc

Any suggestions guys?

you dont undo them front bolts, undo the one you use to adjust the height, under the rubber boot on the bar near that is a circlip, remove this then slide bar backwards this will reveal the splines at the end you are trying to unbolt have a look at the workshop manual i posted a link to download it ina previous post

I'm really confused now, have I been messing with the wrong end of the car then as the last picture I just posted is about 3/4 to the back of the truck

Are you saying that I should be adjusting the front bit, ie here;

to get the front of the truck in the air?

I'd like to think I'm usually quite intelligent but this is confusing the s**t out of me lol

no dont touch them, undo the bolts you tightened up to raise the torsions there is a circlip next to the x member just in front of them, remove this then slide bar toward the back of the truck

Ok, going back to very very basics, which bolt do I adjust to send only the front of the car up in the air?

I hope you work this out, as I want to have a look at mine, but have not been able to make head nor tail of it...

Something else I do not understand, on the link you provided to the other forum, it says at the end "You are done! Now go get an alignment!".. Why would you need to have the wheels re-aligned?

Right I think I've figured this out!!!!!
I've been messing with the complete wrong end of the car wtf!!!!!!

I need to jack the car up so the height at the front matches the height at the back then where these 3 bolts are;

Under there is a nut that has to be turned clockwise to adjust the height of the front of the car, make sure that the bolt is parallel with the X member and then drop the car making fine adjustments to achieve the desire ride height?

Correct?

Ok number 1

How did you get that angle and that amount of spare thread?

number 2, is that the front or the rear of the car?

thats on a torsion that was reindexed thats about in the centre of the truck underneath it is the bolt u turn to raise the torsions
