Was jut wondering if anyone had any pics of how to adjust the torsion bars as mine need raising about 4" and i want to make sure i adjust the right things :nenau

4 inches ? are you sure ? where are you taking your measurements from ?
don't have any photos but if you look under either side of the car, around the rear end of the front doors you will see the adjusting bolt and bar going all the way to the front cross member. instructions for measuring and adjusting are in the manual. http://bebrs.pie-dabas.net/Webs/Terrano/R20/fa.pdf

well i want the front the same height as the back and at the moment its 4" lower, i've taken the measurements from the centre of the wheel arches

It does seem a bit steep:augie
I wonder if some fool has put +2" springs at the back and not leveled the front?
If it really is 4" lower at the front , you may have to "re-index" the torsion bars too:doh
Pics please :D

i'll take some pics in the morn in the daylight, u may be able to see the dif in height from the pic i posted when i fitted the roof rack

No way is that four inches Ricoh...the best way to measure it (not the correct way which is at the wishbone but is difficult to get accurate) is between the top of the wheel arch and the top of the tyre. Just adjust so the front is about 2-3 cms lower then the rear.

I'm also assuming you have the same wheel/tyre sizes front and rear?

Yeeeees, that roof rack !!!!!!!!!!
More of that again, but the 4" thing doesn't actually look that much;)
I think you'll get that levelled easily enough:D
WD40 the locking nuts for an easier job and take a bit of weight of the wheels while you tighten the adjusters:cool:

both front and rear tyre sizes are the same, the front is about 4" lower u cant really see in the pic cos of the angle it is taken at, and the roof rack isn't on anymore it served its perpose and has since been removed :thumb2:D

and by the way, if you load your truck a lot, and especially if you tow, you don't want it level cos it will sag at the back under loading.:thumb2

i dont load it and i dont tow unless giving a helping hand

If you mean the wheel arch to ground measurement then I can understand it being 4" different, but as I say, thats not the relevant dimension as the whel arch tops are not exactly in the same plane; you need to do it between wheel arch and tyre.:)

sorry should have said the measurment was from top centre of wheel arche to top of tyre

then i trust your tape measure but thats a BIG difference and your photo certainly doesn't reflect such a differential?:nenau

If you want to do a quick and dirty check have a look under the front. The proper way to adjust the ride height is to adjust the torsion bars until the front lower wishbones are (and this measurement is from memory, its all in the manual) approx 1.8 inches higher at the inner ends than the outer ends (i.e. close to the wheel).

With a big difference like that your wishbones should look as if they are level....if they are indeed higher at the inner ends than the outer then its not that far out.:)

erm,,,,can you explain that to me like i'm drunk?.....cos i am lol

Got the measurement wrong, its only 1.26 inches between steering stop and inner end.

well thats pretty close TBH....you can lose another inch but I wouldn't go too mad...jacking it up too much can put stress on your CV joints....:thumb2

hi,
i measure mine from the centre of the wheel to the top of wheel arch, 19 inches i set mine to and have no probs with that at all plus do it flat ground, after you've adjusted it re-check it the next day after its settled down a bit hope that helps.
cheers eboy.
ps, that advice was from a nissan dealer.

Nutter

I measure mine from the top of the hub to the bottom of the wheel arch. Spent ages trying to get it right until I realised I had removed one of the plastic arch trims the day before :doh
Reclaimed the arch from the hedge, refitted it, and then had to adjust that side downwards, which is a big no no (apparently - who reads manuals anyway ?)
