Just pulling out of work today and my drivers side torsion bolt adjuster snapped.
Front end dropped to floor and truck was un drivable.
Managed to find a bolt big enough to bodge it to get me home but I'm wondering if anyone knows the strength rating of the bolt and if I can get one from fixings place or will it be a main dealer job.
Driving down to wales Friday so need the info ASAP so I can get it sorted tomorrow.
Cheers for any help in advance.:thumb2

That's the one.
Any chance you could nip it to mine tomorrow:lol
With it being part of the suspension just wondered if they are a super doope strong one.

i would have thought that they would be high tensile, as the`re under a lot of strain

looks like a scrapper or main steeler job :doh

if you were closer you could have had this one :thumb2

bad timing for you and you`re weekend away mate

DO NOT USE STAINLESS it has a much lower tensile rate than steel, any other steel bolt will do for a short period, I have original bolts here but not going to get to you by Friday, so just carry a spare and try and avoid heavy bumps on the side that failed, PM me your addy and I will send you one for fitting on your return, Rick

Wow, you don't want that to fail if doing 70 mph on the motorway..

How common is this fault?

What has contributed to it's failure?
corrosion?
over stressing, due to wind up?
fatigue,?
A metallurgist could tell you, just looking at the break...

I've thought about this before and can see no reason for any more stress on the bolt regardless of wind up. The bolt is simply adjusting the relative ht of things, not changing the load.
Probably as you say, fatigue

you could see a dark area on the bolt where it had broke so looks like it had been going for a while.
