ok well this morning started good as i was off work (with a bad eye hospital till early hours.)i set about removing the A bar i sold on ebay, but the old girl looked a bit tired naked "so i sent her in to make a cuppa" lol

with the a bar off it didnt have that nice look, they have when they are on, still its gone now.
so i set about pulling the grill off as i had something in mind and wanted to give it a go

as you know i been wanting the smarter dakar look as apposed to a monster/ mud truck
so have adapted the front grill hopefully for that look . it looks very diferant im not sure i like it yet but everyone else who's seen it says it looks the muts nuts

also fitted my wheel arch extensions ( yes another thing i made myself) i refuse to pay 60.00 on ebay for something i can make and i can have red too.... its funny when you get a bog standard truck you cant wait to get it muddy then when you done loads of mods to it you get sick of it looking a pile of shit covered in mud

tomorrow i got space in a garage so the front arb is comming off ,
i got paint to do on the front and extreme air scoop. and if i get time ill do the windows in red vinyl to cover them over.

i'll do some pics tommorow to put on. it was too dark when i finished this evening

then when funds permit and the new shop opens ill go for the stickers etc

the boss bat21 is more than likelly sorting the insaine badges now as we think he will get a better deal

here are some pics.... not painted yet.... couldnt be arsed today went out playing instead.

arch extensions

what did you make the arch extensions from as i am looking at doing mine but not sure which way to go.was gonna buy some 5mm industrial rubber and make them out of that but i like the look of yours:thumbs
i also am not paying 60 quid plus for some dodgey plastic ones off e bay.

i think the front would look better with a couple more rows of holes with some fine mesh behind it;)

no hotter as yet. done slow off roading . A roads and duel carrageways. i suppose a hundred miles so far ... no hotter and no colder its just the same

but then my bumpers are trimmed right up so i have lots of air going up there and the hole in the black section of bumper and ive prob still got a third of the air i had going in the grill.

i suppose when you and it all up i prob got more air going in than a standard truck

the grill area was what i wanted and i know it looks very strange and im not sure i like it. but i did make a spare red bit for the front. i want to get extreme cut into it then use that instead of the one with just holes.
but i doubt it will let any more air in

its certainly different. well done for originality etc!

just noticed that your fogs are higher in cluster than on terrano
would say mine are level, as in their centre lines. wonder why
ford did it different. there i was thinking it was a different design
of grill and of course the chrome.

hey bet you could just about squeeze another fog under each fog
or mini spot/driving. that would be different??

what about an led behind each cut out in grill?

i went to the sign writers and got some plastic foam board, "stupid i didnt write the name down" but if you go to yours they will know what you mean you can have all colors in 5mm and its very easy to work with it costs 100.00 a 8x4 sheet they did me 600 x 1200 for 25.00 for 4 arches you only need 3" strips x 4 = 300 mm just check you can do it with 1200 it worked on mine but my bumpers are shorter as they are trimmed

if you need longer you will need the sheet cut 300 x 2440 so back up to 1/4 a board bout 25.00

another thing to consider they havn't really stopped it getting dirty

The arches look really nice Extreme:thumb2 Your front grill is def different:DTBH if I was doing it I would have added more holes but as I said thats me:D

yeah i know what you mean.... it needs improving ... prob do one with extreme cut into it:thumbs

Top marks for having the guts to try these things, someone has to be the first. Next thing you know, everyone will be doing it.

Will you be painting the air intake and grill the same colour red as the Maverick ?

Lee. :thumbs

was it called foamex by any chance as i know where i can get some of that dirt cheap.problem is its white.
not too fussed about the dirt splashing up the sides just don't wan't the old bill having a moan about it.
my mate has got a set of four defender arches but they dont follow the same shape as the t2 and might look a bit duff.

the grill and chrome is going to be satin black as is the extreme air intake scoop...
will be improving the grill first and been playing with ideas to improve the extreme air , im thinking of making a fibreglass tube to run in one piece from the air vent to the scoop . and mould it around the pillar . i think i can get it neater and less in your face id like to make it almost not visible.

the plastic for the arches was foamalux - prob the same as you can get just a diferant brand.

yes i thought it might be too brittle..... but my tests so far it seems ok for the job
