I had today off to do some project work on the mav:)
Thought I'd do the body lift:rolleyes:
Started to undo the first body mount at the front right.....and after considerable amounts of wd40 I found the whole chassis mount came off in me hand:(

Right oh then some welding reqd,
So as we were at it thought the inner wing could get sorted too, this is now like PRINGLES, I've started and cant stop......bugger me there's a big hole there now. It's like the flintstones car:eek:

I knew it was a bit rotten round there but this is major heart surgery time:eek:
So I'll be up the scrap yard 8.30 tomorrow with a man and some oxycetelyne:sly
I may be some time..........................

getting expensive this.

i had a shock this week too

180 quid for 8 bushes

and i dont mean the hairy bush either

post them up for others...
I forgot to keep them as was trying to do it fast at work.. lunchtime ( ish )

Just get a new truck fer krissakes Pete!

Worked for me :D:D:D

That was one of the reasons I cahsed my old one in and got the current Mk3 - the old Mk1 was starting to get to where it was going to need a fair bit of welding. On the plus side though you can rebuild the wheel tub for any size you want now.

all that work and expence and you not even fixed all the running gear yet

seems a shame putting all the gas kit on and the others stuff when its so far gone............ just my oppinion dont take offence:thumbs

re build is costing another 1400 on top of what its already had spent on it.
but at least mine is rust free

I wish I could get another one now........but haven't got any cash:eek:
No2 daughter now in Uni. and the wife insisted I do the ruddy patio:doh 75sq meters is enough for a decent T2 :doh
Ah well my mate's a bloody good welder and he does NEED a new dishwasher:naughty

Hi Makeitfit

Re the patio - I've just finished laying 87 square metres of exposed aggregate concrete bays divided by terra cotta tiles, in our rear courtyard. Cost me just over 500 Euros here in France, you could probably do it a little cheaper in the U.K.

Bon courage, CL

Well my patio was payed for by my SISTERS house insurance..

:augie:augie:augie

I wonder how many of us are driving our families around in rust buckets like that without knowing it?

Jim T

my wife and kids refuse to get in mine. they know there will be some off roading involved:thumbs

Today was a much better day

All the electrics back in, steering, brakes, clutch etc bolted up and ready to go:)
Just need to bleed the diesel through and hopefully it'll live again:rolleyes:
Going to do the back arches tomorrow too, you know the ones, the rear seat belt locations aren't there on mine:augie Mind you I've got no back seats anyway, but not sure what Mr MOT man might say. So it's getting welded:cool:
