fixing a Landy.

Converted my bro in laws Disco 2 to ordinary coil springs after the air suspension played up again.....

that seems a shame as such a neat idea airs but
reality down the line is expense so gather there
are kits for coiling air ride rangeys and rears of s2
discos.

i have wondered if an air s2 could be lifted beyond
its own movement - would need bigger bags or
spacers?

I am trying - I lent him mine for the week whilst his was off the road - maybe I'll have convinced him by the time we've finished the Mac challenge together.

Yes there are spacer kits to go on em - having seen how the air springs attach - they'd be a doddle to fit. A mate of ours has a 2" lift on his D2 and then he can pump it up an extra 2" on the air if he needs to but the reality is of course that that doesn't get you anymore clearance really only bigger tyres do that.

I sympathise with you Trex, I hate the sight of that air suspension and all the problems it gives, absolutely awful is the best word I can come up with, for public viewing.
Ok if you want to lower a Disco, well the back end anyway, when the air bags go or the compressor decides to work all night and burns itself out etc.

Yep but dead easy to dump took 2-3 hours grovelling around in a carpark, with a 2 post ramp etc it would have taken under 2 I guess.

Kit if anyone is interested came from Paddocks, 2 springs, 2 spring seats (with 4 bolts) and 2 spring isolators ( the rubber bits that sit against the upper seat - thats it.

We've just pulled the supply to the pump for now, need to get it plugged in and the suspension turned off as for now it will light a light in the dash at times saying its trying to self level. You can diable the sensors so they are stuck at std height but getting it turned off properly is the est answer.

Hi TRS have you still got the air bags & pump ? just that I know what else they can be used for which you might be interested in:rolleyes:

Pumps still on the vehicle and we have the airbags but at leats onbe of them is suspect - go on what you got in mind? Lifting T2 withem? Might go inside std rear coils? could be worth a look I suppose.

Never thought about that:rolleyes:no they would be perfect for an off road trailer for the suspension so you can adjust the trailers ride hight due to the load your carrying & the condition of the track your driving on:augie
