i have just striped down the rear brakes fitted replacement calipers shoes and new adjusters.
i have the handbrake down to one click

and still not stopping
although its holding on a hill but not fantastic.

cant get the rears to lock up on the pedal either

so even after all this work , im still fitting disks brakes next week and thats the end of it.


i still recon i need more effective braking due to the size of the wheels. remember im 17% bigger than standard and when they are spinning they are likely to need 30-40% more brake to stop them.

also i need more rear braking to stop the dive when braking and obviously to have some fun too


plus i already have most of the stuff for conversion anyway

Mines Sh*t to as you know & Ive replaced pads all round,disc's & fluid... Still roles back but does lock up

load sensor wont effect the handbrake and tried the load sensor in severl possitions and nothing..... it all works fine without the hubs on but just wont stop the big wheels.....

and handbrake is just plain useless

also the place i got the kit from says they have another 3 sets. pete has reserved one at 50.00 so 2 kits left (used though)

they are disk rears with drum handbrake. but the plan is to have 2 handbrakes one disk and one drum (for mot)

the kit is
disks
calipers
backplates

they are a straight swap basicly.
but as im going for twin handbrakes and several extra valves for playing around new hoses and pipes etc its going to come in at around 300.00

but a basic swap will cost 100 - 150.00 all in if you fit it yourself

if you fitted new shoes, you proberly need to bed them in for a few miles, (250-500) before they will hold properly, and check that the drums are not scored.

my hand brake works brilliantly, :naughty

no ive stripped them cleaned them changed them bled them

loads of times now and nothing is good enough


ive had enough of brakes..... its discs for me now

loads less messing about

thats what its having straight to the discs. but its got to have a seperate hand brake for the mot:nenau

hence the extra cost

My handbrakes great on hills etc, and as long as its wet or theres some gravel around I can turn it round in not much more width than the cars length - on my mate private tarmac road obviously officer.

no there is obviously a problem somewhere
ive had enough so its all coming off for new.... not messing with it no more

i dont want them taking it off me , or me end up killing someone. so its got to be done now.............. its just not woth the time or the risk of messing with the standard stuff anymore and it would likelly cost a whole lot more for standard kit
