So how much input power does an RF amplifier (burner) need ?
Most legal CB rigs only produce 4watts output max, so as this rig produces 4 watts, like any other CB rig, then how can this little rig be unsuitable?
Most RF amplifiers will have a preamp to limit what is needed from the rig.

When I saw this rig, I was amazed, it has most features of a full sized rig, but no plug in mic, or roger bleep as far as I can see, but for the price lol... Even available from Maplin, (£49.99) and they have a £10 off offer if you spend £50 + sometime in June. :augie

When on AM I had a 100 watt burner with a DV27F antenna, put your hand on it when transmitting and it gave you a RF burn but made little difference to transmitting distance, Rick

I've got a Jessan 40 Channel FM CB that's doing 10watts into a KL203 amplifer, you do the math :naughty :naughty

I had my waders hung behind my seat one day when off roading in Wales with friends and the amplifier got so hot it melted the pocket :doh

It really does good distance, I was talking to guys in Brittany when I was over on the Isle of Wight :thumb2

I could never see the point in using so much power to get out there, if all the people picking you up are running 4w and can't get back!!!!

That't the thing I checked with a few guys I know in the scene and they told me that from down there in the evenings there were guys that used home bases with 240v power supply's. The guys I were talking to in Brittany were coming back 30 over on my meter :naughty

Thats the thing, there's lots of people running over 4w. Most modern day cbs made today are capable of 10w with a simple mod.

To be honest i think 100w is too much but 10-30w really helps.
