2.7L engine is gear driven & the 3.0L engine is chain driven.Okay I give up is it direct gear driven between crank & camshaft never heard of one of those if it is ?

OK so only way of adjusting the valve timing would be some sort of vernier adjustment on the camshaft sprocket as per racing engines.
Not sure if there is such a thing as VVT on a diesel only seen that on petrol engines e.g brilliant Honda VVT engine range.
On Mercedes common rail diesel engines a lot of the engine management is done by way of software upgrades on the ECU and other such wisardry of engine management beyond the reach of home tinkering.
yep, it also works on the 2.7 as well. The ability to "adjust" things will come later.Has he done anything for the 2.7 tdi ? Also is the idea to tweek the engine on the fly?:naughty
