So after some helpful tips from some members I decided to jack up the front and see what I could find, experiencing a knock on rare occasion whilst driving, usually on slight bend, not full lock.

Nothing appeared loose but much took a good tighten up and the two sets of front body mounts had a good turn too :thumb2

I tightened up the top arm bolts either side, and the shock mounts too

Tightened up arbs too, not much though, I did tighten up the bolt underneath a lot!!!! Worth checking

Rusty bash plate

Some love later

Painted my bash plate yellow - does look rather fetching even if I do say so myself!

Mines been an array of colours :thumbs
Silver, yellow, blue and now back to black.

Bash plate? What's that?? :augie

Removed mine when I did my lift as on the Trol the front prop passes through the guard and I was worried the prop might foul on it at articulation. The axle and all the other associated gubbins are in front of and lower than the sump anyway so it's very well protected.

I also have binned mine :lol

After the dints I have got in mine I left it on for piece of mind.
On the terrano it does leave the lower front end a bit exposed.

Often had to straighten the one up on my old truck with a big hammer where it curves for the bottom arms:lol:lol

Wouldn't bin mine as from.underneath you.can see beltz coolant hoses and sump. I'd rather perch myself on a rock with the guard than the sump  ;)

Removing your bash plate is a bit like taking your hard hat off on site because things from above keep dropping on it.:doh

I am amazed that the 6mm bolts that hold it on are strong enough.

I would think that the bash plate would help to reduce how much water is forced into the engine compartment when wading.

Unfortunatly the Patrol guards are made of plastic, not only does this mean they do not need hameriting but it also means they are junk, I ripped 2 out of 3 of mine off when I got stuck in a hole at a pay & play site and had to be towed out backwards. As already stated the main areas of concern are protected by the front axel but since loosing them my engine is covered in mud which is not good. When funds allow I will replace but at over £100 per plate I feel they are very expensive for what they are.

Kind regards

Russell.

For the cost of that to happen all over again you might aswell get a fabricator to make a decent one? :nenau

Also Rustic its 4 10mm bolts eh not 6 ;) :kissy

Are you meaning the plastic steering guard? Must have been a hell of a hole! :lol

If it's the plastic guards under the gearbox and the transfer box forget 'em. About as much use as cardboard and all they'll do is collect crap and brush and create a fire hazard due to the heat coming off gearbox and transfer box.

They removed them from the Aussie Y61s as they were causing so many vehicle fires.

Your bash plate held of with M10 was this a later mod, as all mine are M6 ?

Only 4 too.!:nenau
Rustic can you get me picture of that because I fancy doing that Mod if I have the same stuff under mine to drill into :thumbs

More better for the purpose of maintainance, would be much speedier to remove when working on the car doing jobs too :)
