my mistral has started to make a loudish ticking noise on start up from cold ....turning the heater control up/down makes no difference to the speed of the noise , it seems to be coming from the centre of the dashboard , but once the car is warmed up it goes away ....... ideas anyone ? :nenau

try spraying some water on belts or i use a bit of WD40 if it goes away its your drive belts they give off a tappety noise if slackish or getting ready for changing
worth a try
cheers Andy

it doesnt sound like its coming from the drive belts , it sounds as if its actually coming from the dashboard , it doesnt matter if i rev it or turn the heater speed control up or down , it remains a constant ticking , untill the car gets warm , heater is lovely and warm , the car is quiet once warm ...... yours sincerely confused in brighouse

a BOMB :p
Are you sure it's actually IN the dash area and not the engine/valves , as mine when cold has a good old "click" to it.

odd...could it just be a vibration, obviously when the car gets warm, it virbrates less...

cold water circulating the matrix. like your radiators do when central heating comes on.
