Wife went out in my truck today and phoned home ten minutes later in a panic. Apparently the oil light was on and the revs were high and I’ve tried pulling accelerator and they won’t drop. So went to find her no problem she’d pulled in and turned engine off. First question did engine turn off immediately when you turned ignition off, yes it did.
Checked oil and all fine no problem at all, no sign of major leaks or anything. Then the magic words, oh was it the oil light, it was the orange light and the oil light is red with a picture of an oil can isn’t it. Yes dear it is, so it was the engine management light then :doh:doh:doh:doh

So I started the engine up and it was revving a little over tick over, so I blipped the accelerator pedal and revs dropped back down. I drove the truck home and it was fine not a problem at all.

I’m guessing it’s the pot on the pedal, any idea if these can be opened and cleaned or will it need a replacement?

If the EML was on then it will have stored in the memory Jim, get yourself a paper clip and follow the workshop download and read the flashes and check the table for your answer.

I wouldn't just go randomly guessing at stuff based on one blip out with the wife

Be cool

Well when I started the truck it definitely was a high tick over and after I blipped pedal it definitely settled back down. I’m going to drive it for a while this week so I’ll see how it behaves, no aircon tho in the hot weather so maybe it was just a ploy :lol

That's where I was going with it mate :lol

Before squirting contact cleaner etc. in the TPS I'd give it a blast with compressed air as it may just be build up of dust or similar detritis.

Best I’ve got is cans of pressurised air, will see how it goes this week. If it misbehaves I’ll have to see if my son can give the sensor a blast of air as I’m not fit enough yet.

Cheers for the ideas guys

If you get desperate I think I have a Bosch pedal someplace, Rick
