Hi all I am just wondering what others see on their gauges, I cannot quite understand why at 3k revs on the overun I get a boost reading of 3 to 3.5 psi, no fuel is going in so at a loss to explain it, Rick

Does your's have an EGR Rick?

I think i know what you mean Rick, I haven't got a boost gauge though! The engine will still be taking charged air in without fuel which will spin the turbo which will charge the air I THINK :lol What is the usual boost pressure and where have you connected the sensor?, and like Blocky mentioned, blocked egr might play a part!

I teed it of the pipe that comes from the waste gate to the injector pump compensator, I have just fitted a new gauge that full scales at 10psi and has no "0" stop so I can see vacuum as well, at around 3k under load it shows 9.5 with the new gauge, but I have another issue, have just changed the air filter, it was only just over a year old but was in a bad way, when I fitted the snorkel it was fine but now it is very dirty and oil contaminated, i have checked all round and the only air that sees the outside of the filter is what is drawn in through the snorkel so where has this oil come from???????????????????????????? Rick

Nothing, I am starting to think along the lines of traffic pollution, but will take some convincing, Rick

Try facing your snorkel intake backwards see if it makes a difference, thats what I do with mine with no negative effect, and it sounds lovely with the window down a bit :D

If you have an intercooler connect boost gauge to the "cool" side of it for a more accurate reading, or even further!

Snorkel is backward facing and sadly do not have an inter-cooler, might tap Zac up if he has a spare with manifold, Rick

Just an update on this one, been suffering some performance issues of late so stuck the same gauge on today and only got 8 psi max, now I cheated a bit as did not put a tee in to enable connection to the fuel pump compensation, (could not find a tee) but will sort this tomorrow and see if makes any difference but I have not noticed any performance loss due to this being disconnected so am wondering if my deep wading a while ago has let water into the pump mechanics causing problems, Rick

OK put a tee in the line so now have pump fuel boost as well and got just over 9 psi at around 3k revs, so pump boost certainly working, but will try adjustments to see what difference they make, Rick

Watching closely Rick :thumbs
