What's everyone up to this weekend?

Besides the supermarket shop I polished my project truck. Decided that the twobar could do with a coat of paint before winter, sprayed it with a couple of coats of grey stone chip. Will pick up some more black stone chip tomorrow to finish it off.
Also was looking at the side of the truck and noticed those metal window channel trim pieces in the rear edge of the back doors. Both my trucks are let down by those scruffy paint chipped things. So rubbed them smooth, masked them up and sprayed satin black. Look loads smarter now.

Tomorrow's another day.

Went to Cardiff today to meet up with the Girlfriends Dad and his new wife, had afternoon tea and 3 sandwiches that didn't even merit the description "sandwich" because they were about the width of my finger!!!!!!

Sat there mainly looking around me in awe at how much I despised all the flashy bellends in there with blonde wives 20 years their junior, call it jealousy or whatever I'm too tired to argue.

Tomorrow is going to be a busy one, got to shift a bit of furniture on the twin axle back and forward first thing then should be home in time for lunch and then CV Boot, Upper Ball Joints, Starter Motor (Again) and Brake Caliper refurb, then Wing trimming as I'm still not totally clear with these 33's yet :doh

Putting the upper suspension arm,and new ball joint on the terrano in the morning then clearing a flat in the afternoon.
Was hoping to have it all back together but found this crack on the upper arm I needed to weld up.

Felt like rubbish 3 o'clock this morning. Sore throat and blocked sinuses. Got home at at half seven, brushed my teeth, hit the whiskey bottle, went to bed half pie-eyed and just up!

I've had a cold bug for the last week, blaming it on the flu job I had last friday:doh

Been busy today, painted the towbar on the project truck. Then replaced the roof on the shed. Then took the old felt and some garden rubbish to the tip.

Now chilling out but feeling rather cold

Friday all day driven hunt for boar, roe and red deer.
Saturday recovering from that (very early start, and it was friggin' cold!!!), and a nice night out with Mrs perelaar. Lebanese restaurant, very good.
Today the opening day of shooting season (rough shoot, not driven) in our area, for partridge. Again very early start...
Got to see some very beautiful dog work, and did not disgrace myself shooting.
My labrador actually retrieved the first partridge of the season, a runner in high fertiliser crop . Difficult conditions though, very hot later in the day, and very dry. I actually carried one of the other dogs (12y old) off the field, poor thing went too deep and couldn't properly walk anymore.

Between 15 sept and end of the year, I have close to 20 shooting days planned. 4 driven boar in the Ardennes, the rest on our rough shoot and a few pigeon days. Lots of work for the T2!

Today we did about 10km (6 miles) on foot, through sugar beet fields and cover crops (white mustard, I think it is). Very tiring, very sweaty. I like it better when it rains!

The T2 is yellow now from all the clay dust; all potato fields here are now being sprayed with water to make sure they can be harvested. The ground is so dry it breaks up in clumps under the harvester, and the machine cannot distinguish clumps from potatoes

You sound to have a very nice open air life, good on you, I know absolutely nothing hunting but sure it must be great fun, once you know what you are doing, Rick

Scope for accidents is very high indeed - but it is quite regulated here in continental Europe. No firearm certificates or anything, but you have to pass a severe theoretical and practical exam to get a hunting (shooting) licence. And with that you can quite easily buy hunting weapons.

Outdoor life: don't be fooled - I unfortunately spend most of my time in the office

Be careful when driving offroad in Belgium - especially the Ardennes in autumn/winter. On most, if not all, unpaved roads there is no automatic right of access. Mostly you can drive them if you own land or are farming on land adjacent to these roads.
