Just read an artical in our local paper..

"A couple blame the death of their pet dog on a motorcycle being ridden fast on the Icknield way (an ancient lane) this week, they say they were walking their dogs, when a bike suddenly appeared and skidded, trying to avoid the group.
The bike ran over one of the dogs, which later died, an narrowly missed the wife.
The couple are now saying that they wan't motorcycles banned from this ancient lane as they are a danger to public and next time, it could be a child that's killed"

I don't know the exact facts about this story and it is only one sided, but I agree, that some bike riders do ride like idiots and should have their bikes crushed. It only take a few bad apples, as they say.
But these stories are all the local councils need to start banning all vehicles from green lanes.

Sad about the dogf:(.
If it was a green lane ie permitted highway ie a road. it should have been on a lead and they should not have been obstructing traffic.
If it was a bridleway or a path the bike should not have been there.
Either way the bikelist was going too fast for the conditions and not riding to what he could see..

Ye sad for dog. My feeling are undecided ad it depends where the event happened.

Road - get out the bloody road... :doh

Byway - rider is an idiot :doh

It's the Icknield way, I know some parts are now restricted to vehicles and some are not.
I don't know if this was a restricted section.

Many years ago, I was plodding along part this lane, in my old LR series 2a and nearly had a couple of bike riders plough into me, going much to fast for the conditions and they also nearly wiped out a group of walkers. When I trundleed past the walkers, many were moaning about bikes and 4x4's, like I say, a few bad apples will ruin it and now that section is closed to vehicles:doh:doh

As usual, a kneejerk reaction, seems happen a lot in UK......but caveats as above, if is a road, then don`t moan, if bridle/foot path...bloody foolish rider, shame about the pooch, I would be raving if it happened to me, and the rider would be fed through a drip......

If he came around the corner and found a Troll:eek: the drip wouldn't be necessary:naughty
