Hi All

I have had a leak for a little while now, I assumed at the time it was the remnants of when I had that clutch cable going to the rear removed. However, it continues to leak what seems to be fresh oil.

I have checked my oils under the bonnet and all seem normal, what can this be?

Its coming out as you look at the drivers side rear wheel just to the top right. I have taken pictures of the underneath and the amount of oil it has now lost. When parking in a clean space I can probably have the size of the 2p coin on the floor when I come back to get the car after a 12 hour shift.

Hi Gav what colour is the oil if you put a clean sheet of white paper under the drip. Laurie.

it is one of three oils, brake fluid, rear diff oil, or fuel, I think I would go for leaking fuel return pipe, Rick

fuel should be easy to diagnose, just wipe it with a clean cloth take it away from the car and give it a good sniff - diesel has a very strong odour!

Mine had the same problem when I first got it (one of my MOT fail points). The garage cut out the rusted section and replaced it with clear flexible, that was three years ago and it's still fine.

Should have also said, it was diesel in my case.

Cool, ok, well I will do the white paper test thing tomorrow and see what colour it is lol - looks black on the floor mind, but then it probably would do anyway.

chances are its a fuel line, at first I thought it was my break pipes. But after further investigation found mine were fuel lines.

My first thought is diesel, either outgoing or return.

It could be brake fluid or even clutch fluid, as a damper pipe runs to the rear.
Either way, with that amount of loss you will see a drop in fluid levels so check both clutch and brake fluid.

best regards,
Rustic

I'd say diesel lines.
mine did this, in end i chopped them off and replaced with rubber from front to back.
Think it was 6mm and 8mm ID hose.
Clutch pipe I blanked of next to flexy near slave cylinder.

Steve

normaly out going dont leak, just sucks in air.

return 6mm ( i belive ) will be the one

Hi all

It wont be clutch fluid as I have already had that flexi removed from when I destroyed it off roading lol.
