Thermostat

My temp gauge stays very low [around 1/4 zone] is this normal on these vehicles. It's done 80,000.
Otherwise I will be changing the thermostat and I do not want to throw money away.

I did not leave it alone because I like lots of heat, so I changed the thermostat, I was very annoyed to see a shiny one already in there.
So it's obviously something else.
The fan I assume will spin all of the time when engine running? [it does rotate when pressure applied]
I know it's a big radiator and all that but surely it should be getting hot at the top when it's been running for a while. :?

Hi Thor,

I have the same problem, changed stat (82deg) now worse than before. Heater is cool therefore engine must be running cool.

This is obviously a problem that no one has yet to find the answer to and excepting that they all do it seems no answer at all.

Has anyone ever contacted Nissan to see if it is a known problem and / or a cure.
