In theory you should tell you insurance company of any accident. What if later she tells her company and then yours want to know why you didn't tell them.

Agree with Paff here that's always happening

I would notify my insurers and advise them no claim is being made. Might be worth doing the free DVLA check that it is taxed and hence insured by someone.

You only need the VRM and make to check.

any notification to your ins co even no fault will be classed as a claim and possibly up ins pre on next renewal.
watchdog i think had a section on it the other week.insurers admitted it makes you a higher risk.

I am with Panelbeater,i also watched the Watchdog episode.Opens your eyes to the insurance companies tactics.

I had a minor shunt with a neighbour, paid him cash £75, told insurers, next renewal went up £100+ and stayed up:doh:doh

Not all insurers do this I for one have notified our insurers once about 20 years ago and again about 5 years ago of a small no fault / no claim accident. No change in our premium. Trouble is if you do not tell them and the other party do you could have problems further down the line.
Some Policies state you must inform them of all collisions so you could be in breach of the terms & conditions and find yourself with just Road Traffic Act Cover only !

In reality of course it is a No Claims Discount not a No Blame Discount so it's open to a lot of different interpretation.

Watchdog has dumbed down somewhat over the years so I take most of the programme with a pinch of salt, it might be some of the cheaper online insurers who charge for simple things like change of VRM are doing this. Certainly N.F.U. do not and they do not charge fees for simple policy changes or amendments either.

I just renewed my cover with Adrian Flux £280:thumbs:clap
Asked about notifying them of a small bump & paying victim cash, she said I should get a letter from the victim to say no claim will be made on the policy, they may not increase my renewal
I commented as the word 'MAY' was used it is ambiguous so most likely premium would go up, I do not recall her reply, but do have it recorded on my android.:naughty

Had similar happen to us around 12 months ago, young lad run in to the back of us at a junction. We notified insurance they checked & said he was insured told us to take car to body shop for a quote. He later phoned me asking if I would settle by him paying for the damage to save his no claims, we checked with our insurance co that it was ok to do so they said it was fine so all worked out ok.
