Thermostat TD27T Nissan part. 2120005D11
Thermostat KA24E Nissan Part. 2120053J00

have got one from the motor factors 14 quid inc vat.
just got to fit it now.
its quite easy on the 2.7 tdi but its tucked away behind the power steering pump on the petrol engine.
weather permitting i'm going to get it done in the morning.

its doing my head in

braved the cold and changed the stat today.....still the same:doh
from cold start after about 10 mins the temp gauge goes right up into red and blows cold air.
then it starts to drop and the heater blows warm and is fine for the rest of the time the motor is running:confused:
could it be an air lock in the system:nenau
have bled it and topped up with coolant but still no joy.
any ideas before i burn it and claim on my insurance:lol:lol:lol

Yes an airlock is possible, did you refill slowly with the heater switched on, then run at fast idle with rad cap off whilst topping up???

Also, did you put the 'stat in facing the right direction? (not necessarily the same way the old one came out)

stat definately in the right way as it will only fit in one way.
have been told it can take a few attempts to bleed the system of air so i will give it another go in the morning.
heater on full with rad cap off, topping up with coolant as you said then ran at 2000 rpm for about 5 mins.
put the old stat in a pan of water and boiled it and it opened gradualy as the temp rose.:doh
could it just have need bleeding after all:nenau
will have another go in the morning.

you said it zipps.
fingers crossed i will get it sorted today.
need it in the morning to take my bro in law to hospital and i dont like taking it too far when i know there is something not right.

all sorted(i hope)

bled the cooling system again and it seems to have sorted the problem.
the true test will be in the morning when its been sat all night and the engine is stone cold.......fingers crossed.
