The Aurora up here this year is amazing. Took a trip out and took some photos including this one with the truck in view :)

That's brilliant. Her indoors said we need to go and see them :thumbs I was wondering about Norway but just how expensive is it for a long weekend in Iceland?
Are there any cheapskate self catering shacks available? :augie

I was once on a RECCE patrol on exercise in Canada one night when it was dancing around the sky, bugged the patrol off and lay in a field to watch them, fantastic.

Truly amazing.

Watched a documentary recently where the very horny Julia Bradbury did a walk to Landmannalaugar and got helicoptered up to the volcano....stunning scenery.

Especially the bit where her arse was hanging out of her bikini when she swam in the hot springs LOL:naughty

thanks guys :)

Julia Bradbury - oh yes :thumbs :naughty

@ makeitfit - can be pricey but if you do a bit of research and stay away from the tourist rip off companies it gets cheaper. Book well in advance on Icelandair and you can do flights for £250 return. You can do cheaper on Iceland Express from Gatwick but they are having a few ..... problems .... On time dispatch is around 20% and lots of stories of cancellations. Pays yer money ...
There is a new airline starting in 2012 called WOW based here. Also SleazyJet is talking about starting but no time schedule yet - THAT would be the one :thumb2
There's lot's of self catering "summer houses" around - hundreds of them. Finding them can be a bit iffy as Icelanders don't seem to do advertising.
If you are serious PM me and I will do some digging for you.
In terms of weather though Norway may be more reliable. For Northern Lights you need:-
1) Clear sky
2) No or little moon
3) preferably cold
4) Active aurora
Here in Iceland the clear sky bit is often a bit of a problem :)

Amazing pic!

+1 on Julia Bradbury by the way. I was watching one of her sans bra country walk programs the other day. Bouncy.
