the mk 1 lwb was pap and it got stuck on some mud even with cooper at's on had to be towed off by a 406 derv

it hated going above 50 that it would shake like mad even thou their was nothing wrong with it

it was heavy and under powered and felt like i was driving a tank

and spare parts were in the silly price bracket

we had a 96 or 97 swb 2.5 manual Uk spec shogun with the very first General Grabber AT2's in the country, we kept it for quite a while. I couldn't fault it really, but it did seem very cramped in the cab and very thirtsy, and aslo not very powerfull. But it was solid and never let us down on road or off. I have a photo somewhere :thumbs

my shogun

my shogun pictured just after its first head gasket replacement , and just before its second head gasket replacement ...... i only had it 3 months

also they were so easy to break into due to that stupid slidy glass window

The Mk1 has character but the Mk2 was more 21st century :thumbs

Once mines on the road full time next year i'll report back honestly :thumb2

i dont know the mk2s that i have driven were really bad worse than the mk1 the steering was like it was attached to a bowl of jello not a set of wheels

I will say that although mines a pleasure to drive, it is like a boat but it might sharpen up with a set of shocks & harder springs :naughty

the mk1 is nice to drive under 50mph and yes it feels like a boat a rather large boat :doh

in the mk1 you knew about the size and weight if it, i rarely worry in the horn, especially when think about stopping at the lights half a mile away :lol:lol:lol:augie
