Thinking I might get through this winter with the existing battery in our Jeep WK I was a bit miffed to find it flat this morning despite being on trickle charge with my Smart charger for the last two days.

Checked the voltage - it was 6.5 volts at the terminals. Replacement battery on its way from Battery Megastore they talked me out of the Bosch at £127 so am having a Hankook 100 Ah 850cca type 019 battery for the sum of £77 delivered tomorrow. Would have had a Yuassa but none in stock again was priced at around £113 if they had any.

I think last nights frost just killed it this morning as a drop from 12.1 to 6.5 volts looks like a dead cell. When I removed the old QH battery this morning I wass tunned to feel how light it was - naff all lead I suspect.

P.S. 4 year warranty - probably worthless !

Had exactly the same issue with mine this morning.
Sounds like we have both gone for a similar battery from the same place.
I ordered a hankook XV31 and with the black Friday discount code got it for £73.69 delivered next day:clap

No battery until Monday new Grrrrrrr.

Chased them up this afternoon as I had not had a confirmation e-mail of the order as I did it by telephone yesterday morning.

Advised after second chase phone call (no call back within an hour) to be told it had been damaged in transit by UK Mail.

I suspect they have been overwhelmed with orders due to Black Friday - shame really as I have purchased from them three times in the past without any delay. Was offered refund but decided to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Hope you get your batteries sorted out guys. I’ve had great results from Halfords with last three batteries, get yuasa with discount from them.

Mine arrived with DHL first thing this morning:thumb2
Fitted it when i got home from work.

Yuassa - great batteries.

Have used Halfords once in the past when battery failed on our old Mini about 4 years ago.
At the time it was an emergency breakdown situation, didn't have access to a Trade Discount Card, I paid over the odds for the Bosch Battery but got me mobile within an hour so was happy.

I suspect that there is a variation between branches depending on Staff with some being more helpful than others. I looked on their website for a Yuassa Black with lifetime warranty but they did not list it as available. the Yuassa 5000 Silver 019 version was £132, available on e-bay for £106.

Good job I am not desperate or I would have gone to local motor factors for cheapness. I could kick myself for not condemning the battery a month or two back when I had my suspicions. Hindsight 20/20 vision.lol

Order update Hankook Type 019 battery

Replacement Battery arrived this morning via a different Courrier - brilliant service as they do not normally deliver on a Saturday !!

Type 019 fits nice and snug.

And fitted yet? :thumbs

Of course presently with earth terminal off and on charge as per battery slip instructions for first charge!

Was slightly worried as the previous QH one was only 175 H the 190 fits just fine !

Hope the Satnav / Radio does not need a code number!
