Hi all, I've been trying to test the the breaking strength of my rear LSD, it's an H233b type.
I jacked one rear wheel off the ground and removed it, then attatched a jig with a big nut in the middle (There is a pic), I chocked the front wheels, put it in neutral, released the handbrake and even put transfer box in neutral.
Then I used a huge torque wrench on the big nut and kept turning the ftlbs up until I got the LSD to slip, and that was very interesting :D

The workshop manual says it should break at 260 to 289ftlbs.
I got up to about 600 ftlbs and thought I felt it move, then I chickened out :lol

NOW, I was a bit surprised at that, I've either got a very strong LSD or I did something wrong, what do you guys reckon?, Cheers.

Very old oil will be my guess, good for an off road motor but not so good on road, of course you could have disconnected the breather pipe and it is full of water, Rick

You know me so well Rick :lol
The breather was disconnected and the oil looked like Bailey's liqueur  but I've sorted the breather and changed the oil a few weeks back.
Doesnt feel bad to drive, I've always had a bit of a squeal when turning tight on smooth tarmac etc., maybe its always been like that.

Last time I tested lsd EMF where topping the charts and dragons lived in the hedge bottoms:lol

My old SWB 2.7 off roader that I sold some while ago to a mate, he is like you MAD, the scrapper that I bought recently has donated so many bits it is untrue including the complete rear axle as the pinion bearing on my old truck could be lifted 15mm up and down, Rick
