my terrano has started to sway and wander when its supposed to be going in a straight line. any ideas please as it due its mot in a fortnight and i hate failing.

Tyres pressures, ball joints, steering idler, trackrod ends and/or drag link :D
Check that lot out and come back to us :lol
Other less likely pointers:- wheel bearings, panhard bushes , drink less :)

id start with the simple

tyre presures

then ARB bushes

then shocks and last of all springs at the back and tortion bars at the front..

you know i thought someone would say that.

Ah but those wont make it sway in a straight line

Pete is correct (that makes twice at least now by my reckoning LMAO!)....

Assuming you aren't driving in the slow lane on the motorway, where the tyres may well tramline in lorry ruts, I'd be looking at steering components - shagged ARB bushes or busted droplinks normally only cause excessive rolling in corners.

The other thing to check though is excessive play in the wheel bearings as that could cause it....and hope that you don't have the same problem I did with knackered threads on the bearing locking ring because that requires a new stub axle which is VERY expensive, especially if you have ABS since its impossible to remove the sensors from the old one.

Not that I'm trying to depress you or anything you understand LOL

Our Picasso wanders in strong side winds, the Maverick much less.

So have you got problems with the wind :augie :lol :lol

had the hubs off to drill out old sensors at the same time you were having trouble with your bearings.so will check been retightened correctly.one of the front arb bushes looks to have a piece of rubber added to pack it out and is sliding out of bush carrier.
