hi, my daughter is getting a W reg. terrano2 delivered to her this afternoon, i had a quick look (in the showroom) to see if there was a CD changer under the passenger seat, my first impressions were that it wasn't there.

But now i realise it may have been there, because there was a box which seemed to be covered in carpet, which i initially dismissed as being something else, but could it have been it ?, the dummy that i am, i didn't even touch it !, it was a bit dark under the seat as well, so i don't know if the box i saw was empty or not.

So perhaps this box i saw was for a CD Changer, with simply !, the Unit missing, also there didn't seem to be any wires protruding from it !!!!!

I believe the CD changer is normally located under the drivers seat. If it is not there there may be a small multi-way connector hanging loose....
The box under the passenger seat is probably the ABS "g" sensor unit.

Cheers buddy, thanks for that, I did manage a quick look in the Instruction book while in this guys showroom and i am sure it said "under the passenger seat, IF FITTED".

I am obviously in a needless panic, i will wait patiently until later today when i can have a closer look, thanks.

The quick way to know if one is fitted is to ask the seller and demonstrate with a CD. David.

A very fair comment that buddy, at the time we looked at it, we were overwhelmed at how good it looked, we didn't want any problems to be found that would stop her having it LOL, perhaps not the best way to purchase a motor, but she had been without wheels for so long, that she was getting desperate to get something around the price, mileage and condition etc. etc.

If it was covered in carpet then its most likely the metal platform that the CD changer bolts on to.

I mean think about it - how would you get the CD cartridge out otherwise?

Nice one chap, you are spot on, the trouble being this Terrano is completely new to me and everyone else in the family, it has only just arrived home for the first time and sadly the heavens have just opened and i can't get outside to get even a little accustomed to it, so the CD cartridge and a few other investigations of the new TOY will have to wait until the weekend, bugger.

If you want a CD changer and it has the wiring, I have one going spare cheaply.

Ok buddy thanks for the offer, i hope to be able to look for whatever it has got before too long, i presume the wiring is quite tricky to get hold of and/or fit !

I had a good look tonight under both front seats and there is nothing there, except a couple of Heater air ducts. bugger.

Sounds like a replacement head unit then but you can get a half decent job with USB and MP3 input for around £70 these days - plus £5-10 for the wiring harness adaptor....
