Sounds like you may be getting air into the fuel system, is there any extra smoke from the exhaust? Have you had fuel filter changed recently. Also there are some rubber fuel pipes near the injectors that can split.

theres no extra smoke the warmer the car is the better it is some times it runs fine

are you starting up then driving off... or are you starting up and letting her run for a few mins,

mine runs really shit if you dont give her time to settle in and compose herself

terrano kangerooing

letting her tick over for a few mins then setting off i'm thinking fuel filter or mass airflow sensor

you could have a mini filter too if yours is an early tdi

doubt its the maf as that would be all the time

id be inclined to look at glow plug or relay they are supposed to stay on till warm (around 10 mins), if not she will missfire or run crap...
could just be a week (dirty / damp) connection on the wiring

OK now there's a bit more info it is sounding a bit like heater plugs. The heater plugs don't just heat for a few seconds but actually stay on like a low setting for several minutes whilst the engine gets properly warmed through.

it starts first turn of the key and runs spot on but when put your foot down then the problem starts sometimes you can go through it only when your driving

ok so its happening only when its cold yes ?

so its got to be something that happens to a cold engine

so.....

glow plug not necessarily the plug or the relay just a connection

sticky valve maybe

possibly fuel line leak causing drain back to tank and but not enough to cause other problems (i had that on an escort van)

id run some injector cleaner through and have a good wiggle about on the electrics and look at the filters and fuel line

I've same prob, (i think)

Mine doesn't have to be cold to do it it'll do it.

On a good m/way run, so cars nice and warm, when you need to gas it a bit to overtake (no gear change), it only does said prob between 2500 and 3500 but if i drop gears and stomp on it prob sometimes doesn't happen or if it does its much milder.

I have done a filter change recently so prob have a look at them no signs of any leaks on anything though.

Anything else i need to take a look at.

ps no mini filter.
