Terrano II 1995 SE vacuum pump

Any idea where I can get one, or parts to refurb if that is possible ?

Having checked all the hoses which aren't great, and I will replace but seem to be no major breaks or leakages, I am experiencing loss of pressure/vacuum on the brakes at idle.

It was never great but the last few days it has taken a noticeable turn for the worse.

With revs on the road it is seems to brake OK, but if you pull to a halt, move forward a few yards and reapply the brakes, the pedal is heavy as and the car pretty well refuses to stop. The red parking light pops on til you give a few revs.

My guess is the vacuum pump is losing the will to live. Unfortunately I haven't got anything to test with (unless someone has a suggestion for a home built tester)

Any ideas or suggestions appreciated. I presume I'd need a specific version for a <= 1995 model ? This is a SE with aircon if that makes any difference.

On my Terrano r3mR I had a similar issue and the leak was the small diameter hose that was connected to the loss of vacuum switch near the master cylinder. I thought that was ironic.

Replaced all the hoses and there were plenty of them that were a bit cracked especially the ones that ran down the bulkhead. Problem sorted with about 7 feet of silicone and some copper that I used near where it connects to the reservoir and pump. Might be worth doing that first before you replace the pump and find it's the same.

As per macabethiels post I doubt it will be the pump, (although I have one so just lost a sale) unless you have been in deep dirty water with a vac leak it will be a vac hose someplace, Rick

Turns out it was the servo leaking like a sieve Fortunately I had a (old) spare one that ain't great but works better than the last.

However, the pump is not in great shape either when we vacuum tested it.

So I'm looking for a decent condition servo and refurbed pump......
