Hi, New here so take it easy !

Recently aquired a 2003 terrano 2.7 td s, problem is , what we didnt notice when vieing / purchasing is that :

press fob, vehicle locks ok and led on dash flashes. Return to car, press fob once, indicators flash once, vehicle dosnt un lock (tried pressing twice within 5 seconds 2)
wont unlock unless you use key, then alarm activates, causing all the neighbours to wake up, meke me a cup of tea and generally heap praises upon me.
Alarm only goes off if key placed in ignition and turned on.

I have tried ('cos one of the neighbours is an auto electrician) turning door key to left for 10-20 seconds. This works once or twice (ie pressing fob flashed indicators twice and unlocks doors) then it just goes back to normal

Any ideas anyone??

There is a download pdf file detailing how to easily reprogram your key fob...this might work for you. If you have joined as a member go to the 'quick links' option at top right of page...second link down is for download workshop articles.

I presume you have a lock and unlock button and you are pressing the unlock button to get in.
Have you a spare fob to try?

And being a post facelift model of course, first plip unlocks drivers door only, second plip unlocks everything else.

Try changing the battery (I think you need to whip the old one out and the new one in within a given period, handbook should say) and try again, but be patient - the microswitches under the buttons are apt to fail if abused but you need to press and hold for half a second or so...but it could be a knackered m/switch....pressing the buttons too hard only makes it worse...

Well glory be, yes the bottom half of the button (unmarked I add in defence!) cunningly unlocks the car with no problems, I will now skip around to the neighbour (auto electrician) and tell him not to bother bringing home his electronic diagnostic kit !!

Many thanks
