Ok so You may be familiar with the UK Comp Safari offroad racing sport :

http://www.compsafari.co.uk/id18.html

Well there are many classes of vehicles, top ones being landrover space framed vehicles like bowler wildcats etc, right the way down to old battered landys with a cage in and an old td lump or a suzuki jeep etc

Classes:

CLASS C3 - Any single seat vehicle
CLASS B4 - Any diesel engined vehicle
CLASS B5 - 2 Wheel drive vehicles
CLASS C6 - Petrol engined leaf sprung vehicle
CLASS C7 - Petrol engined non leaf sprung up to 2501cc
CLASS C8 - Petrol, engined non leaf sprung 2502cc to 3600cc
CLASS C9 - Petrol engined non leaf sprung 3601cc to 4300cc
CLASS C10 - Petrol engined non leaf sprung 4301cc and larger

Well I'm thinking a 2.4 Swb terrano might be a great cheap entry level vehicle for this motorsport ...

buy an old knackered with say a rotten body, patch it up, weld in a cage and off you go :thumb2

could also develop it to be more competitive as you go, lift it, cut off the front end inner wings etc weld in a couple of bent tubes and add some coilovers, weld the rear diff, 2.4 is very easy to turbo charge, mount rad on cage behind u and add a front mount intercooler... You could be looking at a 300 bhp monster that is pretty damn capable for not too much money :naughty

IVE JUST HAD A WEE LOOK @THE VID IT LOOKS GOOD :sly
MIGHT BUY A 3.0L AGAIN :lol

Way too heavy / expensive to convert successfully IMO
Suzuki more like it :thumbs

Yeh, but there's full bodied range rovers and 110's in the pics
The weight is in the engine/box/axles. I'm sure you could be competitive

Power to weight , I should have said.

It's so tempting :naughty
Just wish I could find someone decent to do a roll cage without a 2nd bloody mortgage

could do it yourself with a basic hydraulic pipe bender, Although it will have to be done to the comp specs.

just looked at vids of them, Some are better than others it would seem.

benders.

They are pretty cheap, But think to get the best results with them you need to pack pipe with with sand?

Worth finding some reviews on them, Read on the comments that some of them are useless.

You got some links to this mate, really interested myself, been watching loads of pipe benders on eBay, but like u say if some are shite I might be just dreaming
