Sadly my Terrano failed its MoT last week and I am now going to have to let it go. The windscreen wipers and front exhaust pipe were reasonable enough to fix.
But front wing rust and some under body rust requiring welding have put the MoT bill too high for me to contemplate repair.

It is a Green "P" Reg (1996 Model) 2.7TDi SE 7 Seater with 107K.

It has a Nissan Towbar, four good tyres (at least 5mm tread depth) and an unused spare (all 235/75/r15 on steel Wheels).
It also has a less than year old battery. Despite the bodywork issues it the interior is in excellent condition.

I am currently living near Ilkley, West Yorkshire.
Is anyone interested?

I imagine someone will snap up. Can you take a pic of the failures? :thumb2

How much you after too? :nenau

Hi,

This is the wing failure. Not sure about the underneath, the estimate was around £300 and a similar amount for the wing.
Looking for around £300 for vehicle plus value of remaining tax (Dec 2014) if wanted.

No pic showing for me. :-(

If the wing repair is on the outer wing, then that shouldn't be an MOT concern. The wings are solely bolted on and are in no way part of the structural body. However, the inner wings do rot and that would be a MOT fail.

I'd see if you can get a better quote first as it sounds quite repairable to me.

If its sills that need welding I got mine done in Barnsley both sides inner and outer and a body mount for £200.

Are you sure wings are a fail, they are not really structural are they so can be patched pretty easy.

I would have thought the wings would only fail if they are jagged rusty edges, as long as the edge is smoothed, it should pass on them.
I have seen body work with duct tape over the rusted edge, as long as it's not structural, it should pass an MOT

The wing on my Terrano had rotted all around the arch moulding and separated, I duct taped the full length of the wing to the moulding and glued the indicator to the wing at the front as it had nothing to clip to (mk3) and it passed with no advisories on the wing at least

I am struggling to attach photos but hopefully these links will work.

Rear seat belt mount is cheap enough and a small hole in chassis and a quick patch up on the wing to please the mot inspector. Either look at posts started by me in my statistics (click on my name) or pm me for the guy in barnsley. Bet itll be about £100 tops.

If you rather get it through mot go for it.

Thankyou everyone for all your help and suggestions but I have a member who can take the Terrano this weekend.

I hope your help and suggestions can help some of the other members out there.

Thanks Again,

Paul
