Not, Car related but I need some advice regarding tent poles. Both me and my son enjoy a spot of wild camping when ever we can. I managed to find a great tent that we have used quite a few times but I have now hit a problem, I put it up the other day to dry it after our outing last weekend and one of the poles has snapped. I have contacted coleman, but they are no help as it is a one off and they have no record of it anywhere. Does anyone know where I can get replacement alloy pole sections? Thanks in advance.

Can you post a photo of it including the ends and also its dimensions. Cant promise but i'll see what I can do for you. Is it defo ally and not galvanised steel or fibreglass.

Thanks for the quick reply, this is the section that has broken, there is an internal sleeve that has snapped off the total length of the section, including the sleeve is 390mm, the sleeve external diameter is 7mm and the poles external diameter is 8mm.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Definitely alloy poles.

You can't put some sort of sleeve over the break :nenau
Just a thought.

Unfortunately it has broken where the joint is so although I could sleeve it all the poles wouldn't break down small enough to be easily carried around.

Could you not cut it completely, then sleeve it. Like having another joint?

I was in GO OUTDOORS recently, and saw that stock replacement tent poles of different diameters, with collars, and the elastic thread and rethreading tool, you may wish to try this as a remedy......:nenau

My son has just had a look at the photos. Sorry he doesnt have any spares for that type. He has said that you can buy repair kits along the same lines as the sleeve that has been mentioned. He has suggested trying the obvious ebay or a simple google search. Sorry best he could come up with.

Might have some in the shed.
Will have a look at the size of the spares I have got.
No use to me now as the tent I use has got steel poles.

Thanks for all the feedback, I'll look at go outdoors and keep going through Google.

the cat is a pain in the arse, he has a real thing for tent poles for some reason and keeps attacking them. Even tries to fish them out of my pack
