I have owned several Terranos over a number of years along with many other 4x4s. I know this will probably be my last one as they are all getting older and I have never found a newer one that I was convinced by.

So what's next? any suggestions?

i reckon i will go for a disco 3 or nissan pathfinder next tbh, prefer the pathfinder. but i dont off road so ability doesnt really come into it.

there are a lot of able 4x4s out there, however, once you start buying newer cars (post 2006 I think) then the road tax increases to a point where its just not viable to purchase them second hand as we do now.

The appeal of the terrano for me is that for what you get, they are cheap and reliable, and don't have the cult following of say a defender, or landcruiser.

So I reckon something petrol based maybe, or my bicycle :)

that said, we go to wales(benar beach) as often as possible, there is a gorgeous tho far from new and far from pristine lwb defender on rusty steels with huge wheels that i look at everytime and say to myself "oooh umph", but then i think mpg and stuff. i will take a pic tomorrow. its bound to be there!

Budget ?

If its pretty big, on a year old truck I'd say an amarok, my mates is fantastic !

Other than that I love the hilux and the new Isuzu dmax is a very nice bit of kit

I know what you mean - I love defenders, and have had loads, and the MPG isn't as bad as you think!

However, before a trip, I used to spend a weekend changing oils etc, and preparing not to break down!

As we may longer be towing the boat when the Mav pops it's clogs, I was thinking my next motor could be a Skoda Yetti, 4x4 version of course, any feed back good or bad:nenau

Top gear managed to land a helicopter on one of them, not something I need to do, but could come in handy.:augie

Diesel capable of 45-50 mpg on a good day.

Some good tyres for the winter and sorted.

It looks a bit box like but seem fairly reliable as far as I have heard.

best regards,

Rustic

hilux are nice but if i had money it would defenatly be a landcruser
