Got a 2000 lwb t2 manual, and have got red fluid leaking from bottom of gearbox aaargh!!!.my suspicions are the gearbox front oil seal, but as its done 100 thousand miles I would expect gear box oil to be al least a bit murky, but its still bright red and in my opinion is the original oil, (i've had the car since 45k).
Now am i faced with a box out job? Probably need a new clutch as well but was on the cards any way.
Havent drove it yet but wifey said 'box went a bit stiff also.
Any idea how much I'm looking at (garage prices) as i dont have time or facilities to do it myself, as i know the box is very heavy.
Any advice would be really helpfull . thanks guys.

Sure its not power steering fluid? Pipes are prone to a bit of corrosion/leakage and its the right colour for PS fluid.....

Take the filler plug out on the side of the gearbox and see what type of fluid is in it and if it needs some.
I thaought I had a gearbox oil leak for about an year as I could smell it when hot but it turned out to be power stearing fluid loss at the oil cooler front cross member and then getting on the exhaust.

Exactly my experience.

Have a grovel underneath and make sure the fluid leak isn't coming from further forward and just ending up on the g/box casing....

But sounds like you need to check g/boix fluid levels and clutch operation anyway...

U sure it's not clutch fluid. There is a flexi pipe attached somewhere to the gearbox that can leak clutch fluid and need to be replaced. Forget where exactly it is but it should be clearly visible from underneath the truck. If its leaking you will get poor clutch operation while fluid is escaping until you won't be able to change gears at all when clutch fluid is all gone. Have a look at your clutch fluid resevoir and if its low the flexi pipe is probably your problem.

Dont think its going to be clutch fluid if its red I have to agree with other answers sounds much more like p/s fluid as its manual , cant see any one filling A manual with tqf

Nissan are known to fill gearbox from new with atf.it was in my navara i had from new.
