ive just called to my local garage happens to be 4x4 repairs & service but they normally deal with land rovers , i asked about my clutch been changed the guy said yes no problem can do it price £250 which i thought was pretty reasonable he mentioned about torsion bars on mine & said the front end is sitting bit low , he asked me to find out the height from the top of the tyre to the wheelarch on the front then he can ajust it to the correct level once the clutch is installed .... i havnt a clue on this hoping someone on here might

You don't do it like that. You need to measure the amount of thread showing on the adjusting bolts at the arse end of the torsion bars.
Look underneath about half way along the car, you'll see the torsion bars with the bolts above.
Measure the thread, loosen the top nut, tighten the bottom nut to increase height, do top nut up again. Simple. AND FREE !!
The correct amount of thread above the top nut is 77mm ( I did mine recently ) but you do it to the point where you're happy with the ride height.
If you can get the car evenly loaded on a dead flat surface you can compare the ride height at either side and adjust if required to make it the same.

Front 1" lower than back, is about right

All depends on condition of the torsion bars and if they have been re-indexed

My bolts were not adjusted exactly the same.

Like I said, get them right first, then measure, then adjust.

never tackled anything like this before but i will double read it & carefully ajust , at the moment the arse end looks about 2inch clearance but the front maybe 1/2 inch, looks permanently like there is 5 in the car even when empty :lol
thanks for the info redex :thumbs

threads on the adjusters, total tosh, it is to do with dimensions on the front wishbones nothing else, it is all in the downloads, Rick
