Swapping radio for another

The radio in my Terrano is knackered.

I therefore bought a second hand original nissan unit from ebay that came with 'code' and cd multi-changer. It is the radio with the hazard switch intergrated into the radio face plate.

However, after fitting it the fascia says 'safe'.

I then read the car's manual and came on here to discover the the radio's are linked to the ECU. Is this correct and is there anyway around it without visiting the dealer?
