Some of you may find this interesting reading:

So, other than a PSI Powerbox and K&N 57i, the engine in my '98 SWB is stock. It's done 110,000 miles and runs and drives perfectly.

I was running a 20l mix of SVO, but now I've upped that to a 40l mix. At the moment, the 20l KTC drums are £13.89 in my local Costco (69.4ppl).

So last night I finished of my last 20l/tankful mix with a trip to Eastbourne and back. Average speeds for the 270 mile round trip would have been around 70-80mph, with the remainder of the 62.5 litres previously being used to 'gently run in' my PSI & K&N around Milton Keynes (that'll be thrashing it then!).

That tankful worked out at 27.0mpg - roughly what I expect at that kind of speed, and no different to when I ran on pure diesel. The pump price for a fill up with diesel only last night would have been £65.56 (at 104.9ppl).

A bit of maths shows a tankful with a 20l mix of SVO costing £55.73, equivalent to 30.3mpg. That's a saving of £9.83 per tankful.

A tankful with a 40l mix of SV0 costs £51.38, equivalent to 32.8mpg. That's a saving of £14.18 per tankful.

Well worth it then...

Dale

thats interesting dale, i have just started running our t2 on bio diesel so i will keep a check, the mpg is savage on ours, but it's all around town use to be honest, will do a check when it's used on a run.:thumb2

Whey hey Dale................a convert :bow:bow:bow

I posted loads on here and I cant remember the exact figures but I was saving at least 20quid a tank, a tank a week meant 80 to 100 quid a month saving.

As I drive by Makro on a daily basis, no hassle :thumb2

Good luck to you mate.

Will that Merc engine take the odd swig of the veg stuff? I thought a lot of the continental engines weren't averse to a bit of the other from time to time?

Unfortunately in a 100% standard state it doesnt :(

Apparently its robust pump etc wise to take it but the common rail and electronics are not vegetarian though they can be persuaded.

Providing the car passes its probation (doesnt blow up during the very limited warranty) I will be keeping it a while and am researching veggie conversions for it :thumb2

ps the emmisions on these things are even higher than a terrano.................I'll be hated by the greens using their precious rape seed and spewing out loads of gas :D
