over on the caravan amigos forum theres a thread about a certain dealers quality of service or lack of it!!!

http://caravanningamigos.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=788.15

As part of that and referring to tow vehicles the term "rigid sprung vehicle" has been mentioned from yet another thread.

What does that term mean  :nenau

I'm a bit concerned as I have a van the same a Jockys and trust me, if Bailey are going to pull a fast one I'll give Briggie a teach in and demo on how not to be nice with sellers :augie

Could it be to do with a rigid/live axle on a chassis as opposed to independant suspension:augie
Like say a Jeep vs Freelander

Hi Dave, how many times have you seen a brand new caravan being towed at speed by a truck, being delivered to dealers by the manufacturers? Trucks have very stiff suspension so the damage may have been started before the caravan is bought. regards bri

Sadly I don't speak caravanese Dave (LOL) but reading the thread, while the obvious implication is that it refers to a vehicle that has leaf springs as opposed to independent suspension, the more general inference is that the manufacturer wants to claim that towing with any vehicle that it deems to have harder suspension could invalidate warranty.

But what a load of bollox....given the HUGE number of caravans towed by vans and 4x4s, there would be a massive 'fit for purpose' issue arising....and imagine them telling a bunch of travellers that their caravan was not warranted for a reason like that.....it'd be like Snatch....:lol:lol

Thanks for the comments folks :thumb2 The delivery comment sums up the contradiction of the alleged manf statement.

To be fair I cannot find anything on the internet about this malarky and I'm not losing any sleep over it BUT having taken on discover customer services in the past and found what a bunch of useless tw*ts they are I am concerned and want to be prepared.

I cant see any way they can describe a jeep grand cherokee as rigid or hard suspension. The articulation on it in standard for is well impressive and the ride is err well typical american armchair style :D

Any more comments gratefully received.
