Hi all a mate of mine has got a bad oil leak and a local garage has said it's the sump so could anyone help with a replacment sump for a 2005 2.7 lwb ?? Cheers

yes I got one, pig to get off though, front diff has to be dropped, and even then not sure it will come out easy, cannot yours be welded? so much easier, Rick

Hi rick it's going into a garage to be fitted as he ain't got a clue when it comes to cars lol could you please tell me the price of the sump all in with P+P cheers

mine is a 1998 so one question is the dip stick near the starter motor? Rick

but to change the sump is going to be expensive, much better to weld a plate over the bad area, it is going to take me two hours to remove a sump then you have cleaning it and P & P looking at around £60 then the garage changing it probably £40 plus per hour got to take them 4 hours maybe more so minimum £220 welding a plate £60, ish, Rick

I am just in the process of pulling the sump off my 2.7 terrano and as you rightly say it's a bloody pain. when you suggest that the front diff has to be dropped, are you suggesting removed all together or just loosened and allowed to move with all the gubbins still connected.

I've been at it half the day and I'm just about to let rip at it properly and dismantle anything that's somewhere close to being in the way !!

Also can you tell me if the disk caliper carrier bolts (19mm) are normal or left hand thread? as I'm struggling to get mine to move and i'm in fear of pulling it off the ramp I'm swinging that hard !!!

Yes front diff has to be dropped completely, I find it easier to drop it complete with front x member, it drops a whole lot easier and gets round the pig of a job lining up the front mounts when putting it back, only problem is the four bolts are in from the rear two come out OK but the other two need to be loosened off, pushed back and the bolt head ground off with a mini disc cutter, then replace them from the front with 2 new high tensile bolts.

You do not need to remover the calliper to drop the diff but if you are doing the brakes then yes they are standard thread, I use a 3ft breaker bar, Rick
