Just a few pics for Zippy :augie
Went off roading yesterday at a new site near us in Carmarthen and er got proper stuck:eek:
It's at time like these you really do find out who your friends are:thumbs
I'm more than happy to say I'm lucky enough to have a few absolute corkers:D
We'd been trying out some tight n twisty wooded sections when this little muddy track caught my eye:naughty
I walked it first and it just seemed er muddy:rolleyes: I started off down the track and all was well ...............until................I found a huge bomb hole 4ft deep or more.................I found it by dropping straight into it up to the bonnet :doh
Escaped through the roof and then asked my best friends for HELP.
There will be loads more pics n vids later Zippy;)

On the way out you can see the hole now:doh

Anyway the steering works a treat:clap
We borrowed the farmers tractor and got that stuck too:lol
So I had to call in Thunderbird 2 who came to help just as soon as he'd finished servicing the mare:augie
6 hours later we were out.:bow:bow:bow:bow
Cheers go to Alan the farmer, Adz n Lynn (Essex types who dont do flies and wellies :lol), Stuart Helen and Sam :bow:bow:bow:bow
I eventually got home for the remains of fathers day and a bit of a wash:lol
Thanks again guys, I've not had so much fun playing in the mud ever:cool:

Would a winch have helped in this situation, assuming it wasn't on the front ?
If you had a tirfor or similar, what strength would this needed to be ?
There are plenty of trees around to act as anchors.

What could the rest of us had done in a similar situation, especially if we are off roading alone ? ( I can see why we should go in groups). :nenau

brilliant, if that had been me, id have papped mi pants!

Blimey, are you sure it wasant a bear trap? 6hours to get it out sounds like a lot of hard work, well done :thumb2

Trouble is that even with a winch at the front I needed to haul the car AND tens of tons of porridge like mud infront of the truck, so that way was a no go.
We did try the trifor winch too but it takes about twenty minutes per inch:doh
The landy had a 10,000 lb winch on it, we had that on a 2:1 pull most of the time and for a while 3:1 So pull load was about 8 tons ish upto 12

We were in a group but the mud was just too er muddy:lol It truely did stick like shit to a blanket:eek:

The real answer for the rest of you is ..........................DONT GO DOWN THAT TRACK :sly
The farmer told us that his land is at the end of the last ice age glacial front and has wonderful bogs around the place, cheers :p
The army had used some of his land for tank training years ago but lost too many and moved elsewhere:lol

Black hole

I think you found the black hole in the finances the government is on about !!!:naughty

You could be right there:lol
I've just pulled out another few tonnes of muck from the engine bay and the under chassis, which equates to about £1.75 billion I think:eek:

Haha that is some bomb hole! More like a nuclear bomb hole lol!

That photo lower down with the truck on its side is awesome! I bet there were brown trousers that day :lol that drop on the right hand side must have added to the adrenaline rush slightly... :thumb2 :thumb2 :thumb2

Well if your going to do something it's worth doing properly. :lol

yes but i'm a born quitter, no 'stick-at-it-ness' at all, but then again i have been married for a very long time so i must have a little resolve some where, but the Mrs probably put it away so i'll never find it now :doh

oh and i still think you have cool hair, i used to have long hair but gave up on it when i started to feel like Bill Bailey :thumb2
