The front tyres on the Grand Cherokee have started to have a strange wear issue after 28k miles.
It is mainly on the front outer edges but extends to the centre in places, the block part of the tread is ripping off in small chunks. (Goodyear A/T Wranglers) The tyres replaced identical ones that wore normally.
The tracking is good, no suspension wear shockers are okay. My garage say it's from driving on hard stone chippings and is as a result of driving with almost full lock causing the stones to cut the tread. They reckon it's common on Range Rovers.
The local tyre depot I use scratched their heads a bit - they ruled out tracking as the tyre is actually quite smooth across the width with even tread wear depthwise. They thought it might be a combination of uV degradation of the tyres (made in 2017) and turning on hard road surfaces.
Anyone here had this problem when off roading etc ?
