Stolen goat! Help!

We had our goat stolen some time yesterday 12/12/09 afternnon or evening!

He is a white Saanen, about 6 months old no horns about 2 feet tall, quite fat.

he has a yellow tag in his right ear (tag number supplied on request) and a scar on his left where the tag was removed after he tore it on a fence.

He is castrated and answers to the name of Charlie, when he went missing he was wearing a black webbing collar with a tag that read 'Charles'

he was stolen from the Tinkers Castle area of Shropshire

My kids are upset as they hand reared and bottle fed him, he is very friendly and approachable, and has a pink nose with dark freckles.

I assume he was stolen by some one who intended to keep him alive as his tethering chain etc all went as well!

this isn't a joke!

any help would be much appreciated!

I did hear about two guys walking down your road yesterday and they came across a deep hole beside it.:augie Being curious, they went over to check it out. When they looked down, they were surprised to find they couldn't see the bottom. So they dropped a couple of rocks down the hole and listened... Nothing. One of them said, "Man, that's a deep hole!"
Thinking they might hear something larger hit the bottom, they found a big, old concrete block and pitched it over the side. They paused and listened intently... They heard a sound, but it was coming from behind them! They quickly turned around and saw a goat with no horns bearing down on them with it's head lowered, flying along, its feet barely touching the ground, it was moving so fast!
The two men dived out of it's way just in time and the goat flew past them, into the seemingly bottomless hole. The two looked at each other and said, "Boy that was close! We'd better get away from this thing before we end up with the goat!".
So they continued on their way down the road until they happened across this farmer working nearby. The men again put their heads together and figured that the goat belongs to the farmer and the decide to tell him what happened.

"Hey Mr. Farmer. Do you happen to own a goat?", one of the men asked.
The farmer replied, "Yeah, why do you ask?"
The men then told what happened at the hole and how they narrowly avoided death in the hole from the speeding goat.
The farmer said, "Well boys, I don't think that was my goat. You see, my goat is really old and crippled up with arthritis. There is no way he could have been moving that fast. Besides, I have him tied to a big, old concrete block.":doh
Have you checked for holes ?

he has the police horse theft team, the rural watch, and the police from two counties searcing for him, what's the odds on them finding him though?

still i have to try just to satisfy the kids, and he is worth about £200 in know its not a lot but a pain in the arse all the same

and i lost 4 work hours today as a result, bloody theiving bastards

Sadly I suspect he's been pinched to order as I'm sure you do - such a shame, the fact its a dumb animal means diddly squat.

I think they came looking for somehting to steal and ill equiped and as everything else is pretty secure took him as he is a push over and will go with anyone, just because they could.

When they realise he is unsaleable as all animlas that an carrry foot and mouth have such serious restrictions now, what will happen to him then?

the onl other explanationof his fate is he has allready been butchered, but a lot of bother to go to for one goat, why not take a few sheep as well? and it would have to be a back steet illegal butchers as the law is strict.

so my money is on opportunists taking him rather than going empty handed, so basically stolen for nothing but a laugh, rotten bastards.

with his ear tag in he is tracable, with it out he is worthless, and he has to be marked with the holding number of his birth to be saleable, and all the transfer documents and holding numbers must be correct, so that means finding an unused spare tag from a saanen goat breeder, and putting a holding numer to the sale, and finding transfer documents, even the registration number of the transport vehicle has to be recorded, how likey is that?

I could se it if he was a prize winning billy but he's just an every day run of the mill goat.

I really despair for this country sometimes. It seems your stuff is never safe from these turds anymore.

I hope it doesn't spoil Christmas for your kids too much.

so sorry to here that Plank Its really stressful when a family pet is missing.
Its worse not knowing where he is and how he is.
Lets hope when they find out how hard it is to pass him on they just leave him somewhere safe and he is found.

this moring a police officer went in to my daughters workplace to have his car serviced, she happened to metion that we had had a goat stolen

he said, funny but this moring my colleague told me some one had reported finding a goat, he went ot the station and passed on their number

I went round the house and low and behold there he was in their bak garden!

a bit worse for wear , septic cuts on his knees, split hooves, cut ears, etc. badly overfed on all the wrong food, he seems badly bloated, and tha can kill a goat so he is not out of the woods yet

but he is home and alive and seems to be settling down nicley!

anyway, the woman had allegedly found him wodering the streets on her estate, i asked what time and what day, she knew exactly, oddly though it was before he went missing!

then she changed her tune and found him in a vilage in shropshire, oh i said thats where he was stolen from!

the she found mim on a common a mile or two away!
then she changed again and her dog chased him into a field wher the goat got scared and got caught on barbed wire!

she had a bandaged had with cuts!!!!!

she just happened to be illigalylooking for rabbit with a lucrcehr with no permission in the vacinity at the time!

well what do you think?

Hey Plank, good to hear Charlie is back home. Sounds a dodgy story indeed but at least she had reported him as found to the old bill. So she 'apparently' had the right intentions? (Or maybe just covering her rear?) Whatever, he's home for Christmas! Hope he recovers fully.

A police officer from the horse watch team called me last night, he was going to run it past the custody sergant forst and if they thought they had enough grounds they are going to arrest her!
