Hi still having problems with my newly purchased terrano tdi, had little little or no power when driving but it seemed odd that it was intermitent id drive along take foot off and on a few times then it was like a switch was being flicked and all was well??? changed for a new Maf and still seems the same it does'ne seem to want to rev freely even when standstill air filter all ok im stumped any ideas please???

Have you checked your fuel filter?
Any light's on the dash? Any whiff of diesel about the back? The fuel and return pipes often rot on these allowing air into the system:eek:

Fuel pipes along the chassis or a poorly fitting fuel filter.

Also have the ECU read for any stored fault codes.

We'll go from there.

is it always the same i.e up hill / down hill and on flat? i had something like this once on my mav and it turned out to be the cat. the iners came lose and slid to the back blocking the way out for the gasses, leaving too much back presure.. it reved freely when on the flat and not moving

there are no lights on the dash, strangley i keep thinking i can smell diesel just thinking its me i will order a sevice kit and get them all changed just drove it again and its a pain sometimes plenty of power and other times not

can you see the engine check light with the igntion set to on? jUST to confirm it actually works...

Have you checked the I/C pipes are tight?

not 100% sure all the TDi's had the mini filter,....mine hasnt got one lets put it that way...

Some codes don't light the mil indicator. Mine shows 0406 on blink but I can't find out what is causing the lack of power. I have a 3.0 DI Turbo 2002.

Being able to restore power with afew pumps of the pedal suggests to me a fault with the APS, but until you at least read the ecu we are all stabbing in the dark.

That's a bloody good point!! Check the micro switch under the accelerator pedal. You'll notice it's got a little switch on it, spray it with contact cleaner, it might be sticky...
