Hiya mate, presuming your head unit is the same as mine with the hazard switch built in, a double din is too big, standard stereo is only din and a half! And also need to fit another hazard switch. Be carefull tho I tried to do mine and fried the immobiliser :doh

Mark.

Cheers Mark. It was just a thought I had. I might just leave well enough alone then :thumb2

I have seen Din-and-a-half conversion plates specifically for T2's with a hazard warning switch built in. I can't for the life of me remember where. I do seem to remember they were a bit pricey.

:nenau

Those were the ones I saw, but not there, and not that "cheap"!

The one I saw was another £70!

I suspect the problem is that, despite what the forum members think, there isn't a great demand for them so they're not manufactured in great quantities.

:(

The adapters are a rip off, and I think for that sort of money could look a lot better! I'm still gonna fit an after market head unit, going to make my own surround with hazard switch and then get an auto electrician to wire the lot in :thumbs

When my immobiliser got buggered I think it was just me being clumsy and rushing, not a common problem, so don't be put off by that buddy, I would def recommend using a pro sparky tho, hope you get it sorted mate, Mark :thumb2 :)

A true double din stereo won't fit in unless you cut the dash up as the front is 1.5 din but the rear of the stereo is only a single din. TBH double din units are over rated (mentioned loads on the car audio forums) & for the same price you can get a far better single din with more features & far better sound:thumbs
Just looked at the link it's one of the no name Chinese makes & from what i've read they develop lots of problem & it's running Windows CE which is supposed to be crap & glitchy & it's a full double din so cutting your dash to bits is going to be needed

Cheers fellas :thumbs

I really fancied a sat nav' and touchscreen unit, along with a rear camera. It was just for a 'blingy' upgrade thoguh, so if it's as much hassle as it sounds I reckon I'll just leave well enough alone :nenau

You can get cd changers for the standard head, mine had one but some oik took it out and chopped the cable for it :(

make your own adaptor (many have on here) & get a single din with motorized screen, :thumbs

Someone here made a fascia out of a plastic chopping board. Sounds bizarre but it's a good thickness and cheap.
Smells of onions though [emoji13]

The later Terranos think it was 2004 onwards had the adapter plate as standard. Might get someone breaking a truck and have no idea of value?

I have a '05 3.0Di, it's got a stereo with built in hazard.

:thumb2

Great for security, radio thefts seem to be few and far between these days. :nenau

I reckon that's more down to the fact that most vehicles have a pretty good stereo as standard, and upgrade stereos are pretty cheap these days.
